$10k a Month with a Niche App in 1 Hour - Here's How They Did It

These guys just made $10,000 a month with a niche app built in under an hour - without writing a single line of code.

You're probably thinking this sounds like clickbait. But it's not, and I'll prove it by building the exact same type of app, live, step by step.

By the end of this tutorial, you'll have a fully functional, published web app ready to charge users. Let's break down the exact process.

The Game Plan

Here's what we're going to do:

And if you think you need technical knowledge to create this app - you don't. Anyone can build apps using AI without writing code.

The Idea - Finding Your Niche

DocuClipper is a popular app that extracts data from bank statements, invoices, and receipts, then exports it to Excel or accounting software. It serves thousands of businesses and earns millions yearly.

Normally, this would take a large team and years of development to build.

The twist: We're going to create a streamlined, niched-down version in under 30 minutes. Our app will focus on one specific function - converting PDF bank statements into clean Excel files - without writing a single line of code.

We'll build it using only 2 simple AI tools: Braindumper.ai and Base44.

Step 1 - Braindumper: Generating the Prompt

First, head over to Braindumper.ai.

This is a completely free tool designed to help you write optimized initial prompts for AI App builders. It ensures you start building correctly and avoids burning credits on unnecessary setup.

The major mistake people make with AI App builders is not being detailed enough in their prompts. Prompt engineering is a skill you'll learn through experience. You need to describe exactly what you want built so the AI understands your vision.

Enter your app idea description in detail. In this case, we're building a bank statement to Excel converter.

I'm running a $3,000 Cash Prize Hackathon together with Base44 from January 15th to February 15th. You'll have 30 days to build, ship, and market your app to get your first paying user. To participate, choose Base44 as the AI App builder.

Hit the "Generate Build Plan" button and wait a minute or two. You'll get an incredibly detailed prompt optimized specifically for Base44.

Click "Copy and Open Base44" - paste in the prompt and hit "Build now." The entire app starts generating with AI in the background.

Step 2 - Base44: First Build

Depending on the complexity of your prompt, the build might take a few minutes.

After the build completes, Base44 generates the first version of the app. It's already a solid representation of the original idea.

The dashboard includes all the features you'd want:

What's impressive: Base44 added features not explicitly mentioned in the initial prompt - it chose a color scheme, added a help center, and made it responsive for various screen sizes.

Now we have our first version. But there are some issues we need to fix.

The Iteration Process

Adding a Landing Page

The first problem: the generated pages are all dashboard pages for core app features. But we need a landing page as the homepage - where new users understand what the app does before signing up.

Tell the AI:

"I would like you to add a homepage that talks more about this app, its capabilities, mission statement, and such. Add pricing with three different tiers as well."

Updates take just minutes to implement. With human developers, this process would take days or weeks.

A few minutes later, Base44 generates a beautiful landing page.

Fixing the Login Flow

The login page can't be found initially - meaning users can't sign in and access the dashboard.

Tell the AI:

"Build this login page with all the logic - sign in with Google or with an email/password combo - so users can access the dashboard and do actual conversions."

While the app is building, explore other Base44 features - changing app name, app visibility, inviting users, and more.

After the build completes, you might notice that while you can move from the webpage to the dashboard, there's no clear login button. Point this out to the AI and it'll fix it.

Remember: Iterating is key. No matter how good AI builders are, they still need clear directions to implement features exactly as you want them.

Fixing the Download Button

Navigate through the dashboard and click all buttons to ensure everything works. If the download button isn't functioning, go back to the AI chat:

"Add logic that lets the download button save the document."

A few minutes later - the download button works. Notice how you haven't needed to look at any code throughout this entire process.

Continue testing pages for issues. Every time you find an error or feature that isn't working right, mention it in the Chat and Base44 implements the fix immediately.

Running Out of Credits

If you run out of daily credits on a free account, upgrading to a paid account is necessary to finish the app. There are various pricing packages with different features - choose the cheapest one and upgrade as you go.

Security Scan - Don't Skip This

Before publishing any app, run a security scan so your user data doesn't get exposed to hackers. You must ensure user data is protected - the fastest way to kill trust, get banned from AppStores, or cause real damage is by shipping an app with security holes.

Base44 has a built-in security scan that automatically checks for vulnerabilities, permission issues, and unsafe configurations. Instead of guessing or manually reviewing code, it shows what's wrong, why it's a problem, and how to fix it.

This is especially important when handling sensitive files like bank statements. Always run this scan before deploying, even for an MVP. It takes minutes but protects you from months of problems later.

You also have the option to change the URL to something easier to remember or attach your own custom domain.

Authentication Implementation

After back and forth with Base44's AI assistant, the entire login process is created. Test it out - it should work well.

Refining the Homepage

As you continue building, various errors will come up. Describe each error to the AI and it implements fixes.

If the homepage isn't quite right, enter a more detailed prompt to generate it exactly as you envision. Just like that - now you have a homepage with easy access to the dashboard.

If the dashboard navigation bar is visible on the homepage when it shouldn't be, point this out:

"I only want authenticated users on the dashboard to see the navigation bar, not people just visiting the homepage."

The AI gets to work and fixes it.

Publishing Your App

Critical reminder: Don't spend too much time developing an application just to find out there's no market for it - or that you've built the wrong features. Build a simple MVP focusing only on core features, then start marketing immediately to validate your idea.

When the first version is ready to publish:

  1. Click "Publish App"
  2. Edit the URL structure to something appropriate
  3. Attach your own domain or use the auto-generated one
  4. Click publish and wait a few seconds

Just like that - your app is LIVE.

Now share it with friends or start marketing!

Final Thoughts

You just built a complete SaaS app in under 30 minutes that could realistically make you $10k a month or more with proper marketing.

AI is the biggest equalizer of our generation. With it, you can create valuable niche websites in hours - no development budget or deep technical skills needed.

The barrier to building apps isn't technical anymore. It's just taking the first step.

If you've been sitting on an app idea, waiting for the "perfect time" - this is your sign. Start building.

Happy building!
